Texas or Bust... [Part I]

You might not know this, but this is the first time I've been able to go on a roadtrip on my own for more than 200 miles. When I received my orders for Texas, I was ecstatic because I was going to finally escape the hippie state, California. However, after a week or two of planning and prep, the impending drive down to the Lone Star State seemed more and more daunting. I had underestimated the amount of shit I was going to have to take in the car and after I finished loading it, I was beginning to have my doubts about the whole thing. Orders are orders, though, so I took off after only getting two hours of sleep.

Anyways, 7 hours later, things aren't going too bad. I managed to get out of the metro LA area and found a hotel for the night. I probably could've pushed on for a couple more hours had I gotten more sleep the night before. On the way to LA, I was entertaining calling and briefly visiting my Uncle and one of my friends from high school down there, but that half-baked plan was scrapped after I realized how big the city was. Oh well. Hopefully I can go for 10 to 12 hours tomorrow.
"ON A LONG AND LONESOME HIGHWAY, EAST OF OMAHA
YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE ENGINE MOANING OUT ITS ONE NOTE SONG
YOU CAN THINK ABOUT THE WOMAN, OR THE GIRL YOU KNEW THE NIGHT BEFORE
BUT YOUR THOUGHTS WILL SOON BE WANDERING, THE WAY THEY ALWAYS DO
WHEN YOU'RE RIDING SIXTEEN HOURS AND THERE'S NOTHING MUCH TO DO
YOU DON'T FEEL MUCH LIKE RIDING, YOU JUST WISH THE TRIP WERE THROUGH..."
Song of the Moment: "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger
